Roy Tabora

The splendor of Hawaii’s tropical shores is a constant source of Tabora’s inspiration. Yet in his creative process, he relies more on his heart than he does on his eye. He explains, “I romanticize. The scenes I portray are memories I have imagined…memories of when the footprints of people were not so prolific and deep. Nature alone is the subject of my work. Its allure is exquisitely pure. That’s what I wish to convey. In Hawaii’s land and sea, I see the essence of beauty itself. It beacons to me with a richness of emotion that I simply must express.”

Tabora’s work is magical with a remarkable glow that seems to shine from an inner light. His colors are all at once subtle and intense. The art strikes a chord deep within, sending us to a mystical place where our imagination is free to wander amid our fondest memories. Ultimately, we arrive at a moment of tranquility. To capture these moments and share them with his viewers–this is the artist’s highest aim, and this is the true essence of Roy Tabora’s unforgettable seascapes. Kahn Galleries was honored to be the exclusive showcase for Tabora’s art on Kauai.

There are many seascapes.

There are many seascape artists.

There is only one Tabora.

LE Lithographs by Tabora

Owning an original Tabora may be out of the reach of many people who still want to collect his art. Roy recognized that. In the early years of the artist’s career Tabora published some Limited Edition Lithographs (LEs) of his most important work. These LEs are all hand-signed and a small quantity are hand-embellished, by Roy himself. Presented here is a collection of rare, extremely limited quantities of almost every Lithograph that Tabora released from 1985-1994.

With some exceptions, the editions were usually offered as Sign & Numbered -No Remarque- (SN), Artist Proof Pencil Remarque- (APR), Roman Numeral Color Remarque- (RNR)

No Tabora collection is complete without owning some or all of these examples of this earlier work.
